Based on the saga of eponymous books by the writer Philip Reeve, the plot of Mortal Engines puts us squarely in a post-apocalyptic future. Thousands of years ago civilization was destroyed as a result of a cataclysm, causing humanity to have to develop a new lifestyle, being threatened by giant mobile cities that devastate small populations in a cruel manner. That is when we are introduced to Tom Natsworthy, a citizen of a lower level of the great city of London who, after crossing his paths with a dangerous fugitive named Hester Shaw, must forge an alliance with her and change the future of humanity while fighting for his own survival.
